Q: You came from New Zealand, right?

A: Mmmm, I did. Although I'd like to point out that I left from here to go to New Zealand.

Q: You ran your own Agency in New Zealand also, didn't you?

A: Yes, in Auckland. Pacific Mango. I set it up in 2003 and it's still going strong.

Q: How's that work?

A: I travel backwards and forwards, and my NZ business partner holds down the fort there. Between us, it works. Besides, there aren't any borders on the internet. I could be sitting in the next cubicle or down the road, it makes no difference today. Certainly not to our clients in New Zealand.

Q: Why did you come back?

A: Time to come home and once I was back, decided to set up shop here, along the lines of Mango.

Q: How did you get into design and communications?

A: It's a secret, but a long time ago I fell in love with a Mac. It was a very small Mac looking back now, but it packed a hell of a punch. So much so, I deserted my pc, abandoned my fledgling corporate career and took up design. Much to the disgust of the pc.

Q: But I thought you were in management, before you set up your New Zealand business?

A: I was. You know opportunities get offered, and I found I was good at management also. Ended up as Communications Manager in the private and public sectors, then 2IC for a local government business unit. Gave me an excellent grounding in the communications side, marketing strategies, budgets, strategic planning. It was good. I enjoyed it.

Q: So what brought you back to design?

A: In a way, I never really left. I just managed it instead and brought all the elements together in one package for the companies I worked for. One day, I thought I either climb the next rung of the ladder, or I can do this for my own clients, with the added bonus of designing. So that's what I did. And I love what I do.
